🏭 Recycling centre

Recycling centre (carpet or general container) — never kerbside.

Carpet can't go in household recycling. Most recycling centres accept it, though many charge for large quantities or treat it as general waste. Carpet recycling schemes exist but are patchy — some centres send it for energy recovery. Fitting firms often take away old carpet for a fee.

Tips

  • Cut into rolls you can lift — many centres require it
  • Offcuts in good condition are wanted on freecycle for pets, sheds and cars
