Can you recycle christmas trees (real)?
Council January collection points or garden waste — most councils shred them for compost.
Almost every council runs real-tree recycling each January: drop-off points in parks, kerbside garden-waste collection, or charity collection schemes (hospices collect trees for a donation in many areas). Trees are chipped into mulch. Remove ALL decorations, tinsel and the stand first.
Tips
- Hospice collection schemes pick up from your door for a small donation — search '[your town] christmas tree collection charity'
- Artificial trees: donate if usable, otherwise general waste at the recycling centre
