Can you recycle food tins?
Steel food tins (beans, soup, tomatoes, pet food) are universally collected and endlessly recyclable. Rinse them out, and push the sharp cut lid down inside the tin so it can't injure anyone. Labels can stay on. Really stubborn residue (e.g. dog food) deserves a proper rinse — grease and meat are contamination.
Tips
- Push the lid inside the tin and pinch the top closed
- Labels stay on — they burn off in the furnace
Which bin does it go in?
