Can you recycle padded envelopes and jiffy bags?

🚫 Not recyclable

General waste, unless paper-padded — reuse them first

View saved list

Traditional jiffy bags mix paper with bubble-wrap lining and cannot be separated, so they go in general waste. Newer all-paper padded envelopes (padded with shredded or corrugated paper — check by tearing a corner) can go in kerbside recycling. Plastic bubble-lined mailers can be reused many times or taken to soft-plastic collection points if they are entirely plastic.

Tips

  • Tear a corner: paper padding recycles, bubble lining doesn't
  • Reuse intact mailers for your own parcels
