Can you recycle anything with a hidden battery?

Singing greeting cards, light-up trainers, disposable phone chargers and 'smart' packaging all hide lithium cells that start bin fires. Remove the battery where possible (battery tube at supermarkets); otherwise the whole item goes to small-electricals recycling.
