Can you recycle cds, dvds & blu-rays?

Charity shops and trade-in sites (Music Magpie etc.) still want discs. The discs are polycarbonate with a metal layer — technically recyclable but only via specialist mail-in schemes; kerbside says no. Cases are covered separately (see CD/DVD cases).
