Can you recycle games consoles and controllers?
Consoles hold their value: trade in at CEX/GAME, sell online, or donate — even old ones are sought by retro collectors. Dead consoles and controllers are small WEEE for the recycling centre. Wireless controllers contain lithium batteries, so never bin them.
Tips
- Retro consoles can be worth more than you think — check eBay sold prices
- Wipe accounts and deregister before selling
Which bin does it go in?
Trade-in/sell if working; small-WEEE if dead
Before throwing it away, see reuse, repair and donation routes.
