Can you recycle lawnmowers and garden power tools?
Electric mowers = WEEE skip; petrol mowers = drain fuel/oil first, scrap metal
Electric and battery mowers, strimmers and hedge trimmers go in the WEEE area at the recycling centre (battery packs removed to the battery point). Petrol mowers must be fully drained of fuel and oil — put the drained fluids in sealed containers for the recycling centre's oil/chemical point — then they go as scrap metal. Working mowers sell and donate easily.
Tips
- Drain petrol and oil before the tip trip
- Freecycle loves working mowers
