Can you recycle medicine blister packs?
Pharmacy take-back schemes (Superdrug pharmacies, 800+ Boots stores) — not kerbside
Pill blister packs mix plastic and aluminium foil and are NOT accepted in any UK kerbside collection — they're a top contamination item. Superdrug stores with pharmacies run a TerraCycle blister-pack take-back, and Boots added blister-pack recycling points to over 800 stores from 2025. Pop out all pills first (return unused medicines to the pharmacist while you're there).
Tips
- Only pharmacy branches of Superdrug take them — not every store
- Collect a bagful before each pharmacy trip
- Never put them in kerbside recycling
