Can you recycle plastic coat hangers?

Coat hangers (plastic, or plastic with metal hooks) are mixed materials and are not accepted in kerbside recycling. Charity shops, dry cleaners and some retailers happily take usable hangers for reuse. Broken plastic hangers go in general waste; all-metal wire hangers can go in the scrap-metal skip at a recycling centre.
