Can you recycle egg boxes (cardboard)?
Moulded-fibre egg boxes are made from already-recycled paper and can go in kerbside recycling, though the short fibres mean composting is arguably better. They break down quickly in a home compost bin and make good seed-starting trays. Plastic and polystyrene egg boxes are different — plastic ones follow your council's plastics rules, polystyrene goes in general waste.
Tips
- Use them as seed trays before recycling
- They're great 'browns' for the compost bin
