Can you recycle greeting cards?

♻️ Yes — kerbside recycling

Recycling bin, unless glittery or with batteries/badges

View saved list

Plain paper and card greeting cards go in your kerbside recycling. Cards covered in glitter, foil, ribbons, or with musical chips and batteries inside cannot be recycled — tear off and bin the decorated parts, or put the whole card in general waste. Battery-powered musical cards contain a button cell that must go to a battery collection point, never in any bin.

Tips

  • Tear off glittered fronts and recycle the plain back
  • Remove button batteries from musical cards and take them to a battery point
  • Reuse card fronts as gift tags
