Can you recycle fireworks (unused or dud)?

⚠️ Hazardous — special disposal

Soak duds overnight then general waste; unused ones — ask your fire service or council

View saved list

Spent firework cases can go in general waste once cool. Duds and part-fired fireworks should never be re-approached quickly — soak them in a bucket of water overnight, then wrap and put in general waste. Boxes of unused fireworks can't go to most recycling centres; contact your local fire service or council for disposal advice, or use them (safely) as intended.

Tips

  • Soak duds overnight before binning
  • Never bin live fireworks — ask the fire service
