Fridges and freezers contain refrigerant gases and insulation foams that must be professionally extracted, so they need to go via the recycling centre (check your site accepts them — most do), a council bulky-waste collection (fee applies), or retailer take-back when your new one is delivered. Working units are wanted by furniture-reuse charities. Never dump them — degassing is a legal requirement.
