Can you recycle car tyres?
Tyre retailers take them (small fee) — most recycling centres refuse tyres.
Household waste sites generally don't accept tyres. When you buy new tyres the fitter disposes of the old ones for £1–£3 each; that's the official route. Tyres are recycled into crumb rubber for surfaces and fuel. Fly-tipping tyres is heavily enforced.
