Can you recycle baking paper and greaseproof paper?

🚫 Not recyclable

General waste

View saved list

Baking parchment is silicone-coated and greaseproof paper is treated to resist fat, so neither can be recycled or home composted, and after use they are food-contaminated anyway. Put them in general waste. Uncoated compostable baking paper exists but check the pack — most is not.

Tips

  • A reusable silicone baking mat replaces years of parchment
  • Don't confuse it with plain brown paper, which is recyclable
