Can you recycle confetti?
Paper confetti is too small to survive sorting and often dyed or metallic, so it goes in general waste. Foil and plastic confetti is worse — it's microplastic litter if used outdoors. Dried flower petal confetti is fully biodegradable and can be composted or left to break down outside.
Tips
- Choose dried-petal confetti for weddings — many venues insist on it
- Never use foil confetti outdoors
Which bin does it go in?
General waste; petal or rice confetti can compost
Before throwing it away, see reuse, repair and donation routes.
