Can you recycle glass candle jars?

♻️ Yes — kerbside recycling

Glass recycling once ALL wax and wick are removed

View saved list

Candle jars are container glass and recyclable — but only when completely empty. Freeze the jar to pop out remaining wax, or melt it out with hot water, and remove the metal wick sustainer. Jars with wax residue contaminate glass loads, so if you can't clean it, general waste is better. Cleaned jars also make good storage.

Tips

  • Freeze the jar overnight — wax pops out cleanly
  • Metal wick holders go in general waste (too small for metal recycling)
