Can you recycle glass jars?

♻️ Yes — kerbside recycling

Glass recycling, rinsed, lids on or separated per council advice

View saved list

Jam, sauce, baby-food and coffee jars are fully recyclable at kerbside or bottle banks. Rinse out food residue — a jar full of mouldy pasta sauce can contaminate a load. Metal lids are recyclable too; most councils say put them back on loosely so they aren't lost in sorting. Labels can stay on.

Tips

  • Rinse with your leftover washing-up water
  • Put metal lids loosely back on the jar
