Can you recycle window glass?
Household waste recycling centre (flat glass skip) — never the bottle bank
Flat window and door glass is plate glass with different chemistry to bottles, so it cannot go in kerbside glass or bottle banks. Most household waste recycling centres accept flat glass in a dedicated skip or with rubble — check your site first. Wrap panes for safe transport, and note that double-glazed units are accepted at many but not all sites.
Tips
- Tape a cross over panes before moving them
- Window replacement companies must take old units away as trade waste if they fit them
