Can you recycle petrol and diesel (old fuel)?
Recycling centre by prior arrangement — call first; never drains, ground or bins
Stale fuel from mowers, jerry cans or drained tanks is highly flammable hazardous waste. Most recycling centres accept small quantities at their chemical point but often require you to call ahead, and quantities are limited — larger amounts need a licensed waste-fuel contractor. Transport in proper fuel containers only. Never pour fuel down any drain or on ground: it's a pollution offence.
Tips
- Ring your recycling centre before turning up with fuel
- Use it up in a mower if it's only slightly stale (mixed fresh)
